Map Research

Hello Map Experts,
You have all done some research on the places we are putting on our map. Either by yourself or with your research partner, post a comment that has the facts you came up with. You can also use this time to get some more facts if you need to. Good luck,
Mr. Willis

Virtual Travel

Hello Travelers,
Your task today is to open Google Earth on your computer and "travel" to Japan. Ask others around you if you are not sure how to get there. Once you have made it to Japan, zoom in and explore for a bit. Please leave time to add a comment to this post about what you saw. If you can't add one because of login difficulty, type your comment in Word and save it in your student file. Happy traveling!
Mr. Willis

Special Guest

Konichiwa!
We had a very special visitor come to the classroom thanks to Nathalie and her family. A former exchange student that once lived with them came back to visit. That is what sparked the Challenge Question for last night. Below is a photo of her name written by me in English and her writing in two forms below. You should have seen how quickly she wrote those characters!
Here is an example of the three main kinds of writing in Japan. Not only is she able to speak English and Japanese, she can write in these different forms!

Here are three ways to greet people in Japanese. Notice how they change depending on the time of day.
Be sure to ask your child what else they learned. The next Challenge Question is to research some other facts about Japan to share with us. I encourage posting comments of any information that you find!
