Pumpkin Season

Hello Bloggers,
Today we read the story Pumpkin Jack. Many of you have seen the giant pumpkin outside in the garden. The photos above show you what it looks like now! You assignment for today is:

1. Describe the life cycle in the story.

2. Describe a tradition that your family has during this time of year.

3. Explain what Tim did that was generous.

4. If you have extra time, create a picture of your favorite pumpkin face in Paint. Save it in our Common Student File.

More Spiders

Just in time for Halloween we have more spider stories and photos from the class. I know that ever since we had Four Winds about spiders I have been noticing how many spiders there are around (and in) my house! Does anyone else feel the same way? Happy reading and be sure to post a comment about someone's writing.

My Web

By: Hanna

Where I found my web was when I was walking out to get the mail one afternoon. There was the web that I was going to take a photo of. It covered with crinkled old dried up leaves. So then I run to like I was on a lightning bolt in the house. Then I run like a lightning bolt up into my room to get my camera. Then I raced to get the photo. I tried to get the best angle to take a photo of the dressed up web. It was on heater so it felt like wired because here was a bunch of warm wind blow all over the place. It felt like we were having a het wave for about ten minutes. It was kind of hard because it was on a heater and so you could not get the heater out of the photo. I was so thrilled that I got a photo of a web. But I was hoping that I was going to take a photo of a spider and a web.

My Spider

By Martha

I found this spider when I was going to my backyard. It was on the side of my house and it was warping its silk around the fly on its web. Then a few minutes later I went back outside and it was eating it. I asked my mom if I could take a picture. She said no and I said ok. So I went back and the fly was not there so I went inside. The spider was crawling around on the side of the house. I drew a picture on Paint. I liked Paint because I could make circles round and lines that I did on the legs straight.

CARES

We have been working over the past two weeks to understand what the letters in CARES stand for. Each student worked with others in a group to brainstorm ways to describe the word they picked. Some made up songs or poems. Others wrote ideas and phrases you could say.
Each group is divided into paragraphs. Your task is to read the ideas below and post a comment telling us what one of the letters means and a thought or two about the ideas. Do you know which word the groups were working on? You should also comment on a time when you showed one of the words or you saw someone else doing one of them. Good luck.

C-o-o-p-e-r-a-t-i-o-n,
Keep your eyes and ears on the speaker, not your friends,
and follow, follow, follow the directions,
and keep a friendly tone to all people.
Cooperation is the word you should follow!
Do your job or work,
work together,
help your friends,
stay on topic,
don't fool around at meeting, during directions, during teaching or instructions.

Stand up for yourself and others.
"Can you please stop hurting my friend!"
Ask for help.
"Stop bullying me!"
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Step in to help others who need it.

Responsibility.
You have to believe in yourself.
Responsibility.
You have to believe in yourself.
Responsibility.
You can get the job done.
Responsibility.
Doing what's expected of you.
Responsibility.
Doing what's expected of you.
Responsibility.
Doing your job help everyone.
Responsibility.
Did you get your work done?
Responsibility.
Did you get your work done?
Responsibility.
New we can go have some fun!

To care for people.
To be in someone else's shoes.
"I'm sorry I tripped you."
"I'm sorry you fell off the swing."
"I'm sorry you dropped your lunch."
Helping people out.

Be calm.
Do not put hands on people.
Speak nicely.
No hitting and no punching.
Inside voices.
Polite language.
Listen to other people.
Listen to people when they are talking.
